Thin-skinned grads

Re Glenn Garvin’s June 2 column, Don’t force graduates to listen to those they resent: His conservative dogma is out of step with real conservative thinkers — he is still taking pot-shots at the liberal left university system.

Colleges are so profit-oriented and correct-speech driven that professors are afraid to air any opinion in the classroom.

Children should have few opinions until they are formed. Without information attained globally, students form only one opinion.

I guess Garvin’s brand of conservatism only wants automatons. Information should come from all sides.

Oh, and let’s not hurt the feelings of these children by making them listen to an authority figure with knowledge, background and experience. If these children want the glory of ceremony, have them sit through one.
