Wiesen a local dance diva

Thank you for the terrific Sept. 21 feature Women rule arts world, about the extraordinary women leading many of our most important cultural institutions. I was delighted to see such a comprehensive list, but was disappointed not to see Ruth Wiesen, executive artistic director of the Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, among them.

Under her leadership, the company has become a $1.2-million organization, providing dance classes and performances in five locations for more than 1,000 children.

There’s hardly a woman in Miami who has had more of an impact, over three decades, on dance in Miami.
