Early education

I appreciate campaigns such as the one detailed in the May 13 article Read Conmigo launches children’s program, regarding the annual children’s program for Bilingual Reading Month.

I would like to urge awareness of the earliest stages of childhood education. Florida offers an excellent VPK program that prepares children for kindergarten and at no cost. The only requirement is that the child must be 4 years old before Sept. 1 of that school year.

It’s only fair to give children a chance to prepare for the coming school years. Children have the capability to develop pre-reading skills at this stage. Let’s make a difference and be part of our children’s success.
