Homeless problem
Re the May 14 article Feud over Miami homeless leads to creation of “poop map:” If the Downtown Development Authority wants to manage roving potties, that’s its prerogative. The Trust’s mission is to eliminate homelessness, and everything we do must support that goal.
In fact, tonight more than 7,000 homeless individualswill sleep in emergency, transitional or permanent housing funded by the Trust.
We understand fully the frustrations many business owners. But every time the DDA asks us to divert money to programs like potties for the homeless, they are asking us to take a bed away. Toilets don’t get people off the streets. Housing is the solution.
