No new courthouse

Re the Sept. 1 editorial, Crumbling courthouse an injustice: The Miami-Dade County Courthouse is historic and should be restored. Gut the upper floors of this historic building and remodel them just as the first-floor lobby was restored. Fix the architecturally unique exterior. Levy a traffic fine and other court-cost surcharges to pay for the renovations just as Duval County did to pay for its new Taj Mahal behemoth of a courthouse. The higher fines will also encourage drivers to learn and obey the traffic laws in our community.
