Watchdogs are needed

It doesn’t border on insanity. It is insanity. Gov. Rick Scott is appointing a new commission to examine money spent on taxpayer-supported hospitals, for such things as executive compensation, advertising, political campaigns and lobbyists.

Yes, folks, this is the same Scott who in 1997, as CEO of the for-profit hospital chain Columbia/HCA, resigned over the revelation that the company engaged in a multibillion-dollar fleecing of federally funded Medicare.

This is akin to the fox appointing a commission of raccoons, feral cats, opossums, skunks and snakes to investigate slaughter in the hen house.
