Ashamed to be a Floridian
Please don’t let anyone know I’m a Floridian. The Legislature is in chaos and went home early because it refused to do its job.
The governor sues the federal government over healthcare to resist covering poor residents. We cruelly rip off vulnerable students seeking a better life by letting for-profit schools pose as serious colleges and leave them with disastrous debt. We allow the elderly to languish and die in shameful assisted-living facilities.
We can kill innocent black teenagers wearing hoodies and get away with it — and don’t even get me started on our illustrious police force. I’m so ashamed when people ask me where I’m from. Where can I go and hide?
