Agree to disagree

The April 16 letter Simple answer sounds like the work of a political hack fond of using insults rather than substance when it says: “Conservatives are about self and greed. Liberals are about others and compassion.”

An informed person might say that a conservative stands for self reliance, more freedom, smaller government and a liberal favors a government solution to society’s problems.

Neither position deserves to be insulted. This topic should be a philosophical discussion in which intelligent people can disagree.
