Interstate bike lanes

After reading the disturbing April 22 article Horror on the Julia Tuttle Causeway, about a cyclist being struck and thrown off the causeway bridge, I think the time has come to ask what brain trust was behind the move to allow a bicycle lane on a highway.

Come on now, they aren’t even safe for automobiles these days. I can appreciate the fact that we are having to deal with increasing traffic issues and should seek out alternate means of transportation, but really, what’s next — bike lanes on I-95?
