Help Florida’s needy

It simply boggles my mind that Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida House can be so uncaring about their fellow human beings as to preclude 850,000 needy people from receiving healthcare. They still are refusing some $51 billion in Medicaid-expansion money.

The state also has had ample time to adjust its hugely expanded $4.5 billion request from the federal government for Low Income Pool monies to assist hospitals caring for indigent individuals. Accepting the Medicaid funds could have helped alleviate both issues.

We now find the state in a budgetary crisis replete with a rift between the Florida House and Senate. It’s difficult to comprehend how Scott’s hatred for the Affordable Care Act can be passed so coldheartedly to the less fortunate.
