FIU is great school
The April 8 article Status woes may derail a bright mind presented a rational and impassioned case for Giancarlo Tejeda and other bright DREAM students.
While concurring with the points made, I was taken aback with his statement that, “NYU is my first choice, but I would be grateful to be able to go to any college, even FIU, at this moment.” Tejeda needs to be reminded that Florida International University has graduated many fine Miami-Dade County teachers, both public and private.
He might have been mentored, instructed, encouraged and nurtured by some of these educators. Further, if he wants to pursue a career in engineering, FIU has an outstanding program.
Let’s not be dismissive of the myriad opportunities at FIU.
