Stop flawed gun bill

Since it’s almost a done deal that students will be allowed to carry firearms on college campuses, why not allow those Floridians with concealed-weapons permits to also carry weapons into state buildings, including the Capitol and the governor’s mansion?

Surely, the safety of young people is as important, if not more so, as that our legislators. Could it be that legislators who advocate this bill know that in order to obtain a concealed-weapon permit in Florida there’s no screening for any psychological problems?

This whole permitting process is based upon the honor system, and unless an applicant has been adjudicated mentally incapacitated or previously committed to a mental institution, there is virtually no way for the state to deny an applicant a concealed-weapon permit.

Until those legislators stop obeying every NRA demand, neither our college students nor any other law-abiding citizen will be any more secure if this terribly flawed and dangerous bill passes.
