Few transit options

Robert Hill’s April 5 Other Views column, Miami’s urban core needs more attention, is one more eloquent voice pointing out our region’s disastrous lack of infrastructure planning. How many more articles do we need before local commissioners and urban-planning boards listen to the increasing outcry that something has to be done?

The proposal to connect Tri-Rail to downtown Miami may soon be a reality. But what were they thinking when Tri-Rail started? How were we to get to most Tri-Rail stations without adequate bus access? Is it any wonder we still have daily gridlock?

Has anyone tried to get from northwest Broward to a Coral Gables office or to a Miami Beach hotel job on public transportation? Good luck! It’s time to implement public-transportation solutions, which have been discussed for too long.
