Transportation choice
The Greater Miami Chamber applauds the City of Miami Commission for making the right decision in voting to bring Tri-Rail into the Miami Central station.
As the hub of the South Florida business market, the eighth largest in America, downtown Miami needs the regional rail line to allow our community to thrive.
The commission’s vote is a key element toward the many solutions critical to the needs of a growing global business center.
Certainly, challenges remain for the movement of people from east to west, to connect Miami Beach to the mainland and improve links to South Miami-Dade County.
The addition of Tri-Rail in downtown Miami is a step in the right direction.
Clearly, we have exhausted all highway capacity and have no additional land to build surface street solutions to move people wanting and needing to connect between Miami and our neighboring communities in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
As a region, we must all work together to find solutions to our number one quality of life challenge — transportation.
Tony Argiz, chairman, Greater Miami Chamber
