The latest ad recently published by The Fair really merits a response because our community has a right to the correct information.
Efforts to equate the Fair with Florida International University should not be indulged. The Fair and related events are entertainment and generate limited economic activity and revenue to Miami-Dade County.
FIU, on the other hand, is a world-class research university with 54,000 students and more than 200,000 alumni, who count on this institution to better their lives.
FIU pumps more than $8 million a week into our community in salaries alone.
FIU is a pillar of our community. The Fair is a fair.
Miami-Dade voters have made our intention clear through an electoral mandate. We want a better use for that land.
