Violence in Virginia
What happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, is nothing short of domestic terrorism carried out by many hate groups. Our president had a difficult time in accepting the fact that this kind of crime was carried out by misguided hate mongers who happen to be white and Christian. Wonder how many tweets the president would have written if this act was carried out by a member of a minority?
Is it not ironic that house bill HR 257, introduced by Rep. Barbara Comstock of Virginia and supported by many organizations, including EMGAGE, a coalition partner of COSMOS (Coalition of South Florida Muslim Organizations), is languishing in various committees?
We at COSMOS urge our local congressional representatives to support this bill and send a clear message to hate mongers in condemning hate crimes and any other form of racism, religious or ethnic bias, discrimination, and incitement to violence or animus targeting a minority in the United States.
