Bipartisan health

President Trump tweeted that he wants to let Obamacare implode, “and then we will deal with it.”

This is a position that, if applied to the escalating North Korea problem, would be similar to saying, “Let’s wait until the first nuclear missile strikes, and then we will deal with it.”

The tactic of deliberately delaying fixing Obamacare — the Affordable Care Act — in an attempt to repeal it is counterproductive to the interests and health of the American people.

As a physician, and an officer in managed care for four decades, I have often been asked about the Affordable Care Act. My answer has always been, “It is a start, not a finished product, to help solve a national problem.”

It is way past time for our congressional leaders to move on and start working together so that known solutions are applied before more lives are needlessly lost or destroyed.
