Bus vs. rail
Buses breakdown, get into accidents, stop at traffic lights, and get a flat tire once in a while, and have not proven to reduce any traffic clog in Miami at all. The biggest example is the so-called Busway along South Dixie Highway. It is a joke. The city paved over tracks that could have been used for a light rail system.
Light rail like Metrorail doesn’t have to stop at red lights, get into accidents, or have flat tires. The express from Brickell to Dadeland North takes 10 minutes.
This city has to have light rail if it really wants to move massive amounts of people off of clogged expressways. Can you imagine what morning traffic would be like on South Dixie Highway if Metrorail hadn’t been built?
