Unacceptable bullying

I’m outraged that the teacher from Cypress Bay High School, Maria Valdes, only received a five-day suspension without pay and must take diversity training for calling a Muslim student a “raghead Taliban” and a “terrorista.”

Teachers are supposed to lead their students by setting an example and encourage respect and tolerance of others. Bullying, whether verbal or physical, is simply unacceptable. Just as there is zero tolerance for a variety of offenses in school, there should be zero tolerance for a teacher when bullying, dehumanizing and embarrassing a student in front of their peers. This teacher should be fired.
