Not acceptable

Starting with Adam and Eve and continuing with the likes of Bonnie and Clyde, we’ve used common pairs in our everyday conversations throughout history.

I can accept such pairings as salt and pepper, rich and poor, and black and white.

What I’m not comfortable with, however, is “shot and killed.”
