Biscayne gridlock

Identifying the traffic problem on north Biscayne Boulevard is simple.

Aventura has four lanes, North Miami and North Miami Beach have three lanes, which narrow to two lanes at 123rd Street. It is basically a funnel.

The solution is to widen Biscayne from 123rd Street to downtown to at least three lanes to accommodate the growing population from old and new condos..

Synchronizing traffic lights at rush hours also would help. DOT’s current project, in peak season, is adding to the gridlock from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. What about nighttime road construction?
