County inaction

Why is it that the Miami Herald’s Editorial Board doesn’t hesitate to criticize President Trump or Gov. Rick Scott, some of which is justified, yet fails to take on the established political leadership within Miami-Dade County?

Almost daily, there are acts of wanton violence, yet no one wants to be held accountable by being criticized for their inaction.

In some cases, local law enforcement personnel have been ordered to “stand down” when they have attempted to conduct legal, proactive, and proven operations that might have a significant impact on curtailing this violence.

These actions include proactive steps to curtail the flourishing drug trade.

This inaction has resulted in numerous deaths and injuries to innocent victims, including children.

To make matters worse, many of these horrific crimes go unsolved.

As long as our elected officials refuse to condemn this violence and recommend steps to mitigate it, this unprecedented level of carnage will continue. As Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary of the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
