GOP’s blind loyalty
As a Democrat, I have often lamented my party’s elected leaders undisciplined behavior and have marveled at the strict discipline and quick wit in the political discourse of their Republican counterparts. As an American, however, I am deeply troubled at what appears to be Republicans’ subservient behavior because it could cost our country dearly. There is a difference between loyalty to party principles and obedience to party leaders.
Strict party discipline, though admirable at times, is not always the best course of action. Does the party remain silent when the First Amendment is under attack?
There are consequences for a party that blindly follows a flawed leader. Let us hope that the United States does not suffer collateral damage.
