Re Glenn Garvin’s May 24 article “Trump plan to boost Border Patrol is in trouble”:
Perhaps the U.S. Border Patrol should import 6,700 guest workers from Mexico and elsewhere to fill the agency’s 1,700 existing vacancies plus 5,000 new hires President Trump promised.
Maybe the U.S. Immigration Service should resume processing H-1B skilled-worker visas as well.
But, as Garvin implied, and I agree, the administration and Congress shouldn’t blow off “extreme vetting” when it comes to prospective agent screening. What are they thinking?
