Real college yield

It’s time to talk about the value of a college education. The Neal McCluskey OpEd of May 19, “College pays off, but not like it should,” discusses this at length.

As usual, nothing is said about how a good college education really should “pay off.” Instead, it was all about the money. The “pay off” of a good college education should be just that: education!

College should not be treated as just another version of a trade school. The hallmark of a good college education is not an individual with technical competence in a specific job-related area. It is a well-rounded individual with the background knowledge and the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed in the modern world.
