Believing in Trump

About 40 percent of the population continues to believe that Donald Trump is doing a good job.

One wonders how this could be in the face of the unrelenting series of negative revelations that pour forth by the hour, the chaos in the White House, and a constant stream of unhinged tweets.

This support is unwavering even after repeated actions on issues that negatively affect a large segment of the population — healthcare, education, and environmental quality.

The answer is that Trump supporters have faith in him in the same way that people have faith in a God, an Old Testament God. Such faith endures despite repeated disasters — fires, floods, plagues, famines. So we should not expect his worshipers to change their minds easily or soon. It bodes ill for our country.
