Healthcare debate

So many complaints about the passing of the AHCA by the House of Representatives! Seven years ago, same thing, different party. As I recall, an enthusiastic Nancy Pelosi said: “First we have to pass the bill before you can see what’s in it.” Really? And pass it they did, without a single vote from the opposing party.

I don’t recall massive protests back then. We (apparently) had better things to do. Obamacare, while providing many with affordable healthcare insurance, not necessarily healthcare access, is a giant government behemoth this bankrupt country can ill afford. It is the biggest example of government over-reach since the days of Lyndon Johnson. Good riddance!

And while my faith in government is feeble at best, I hope this plan does better for more people in a fairer manner, with freedom of choice and self-determination for everyone and not on the backs of many people who don’t want or need it.
