Cruel misnomer
The heathcare bill that narrowly passed the House on May 4 is cynically named the American Health Care Act — the AHCA. The bill’s details are largely unknown because of the stampede to get it to a vote. But it is clear that there will be massive funding cuts that will leave tens of millions uncovered.
I suggest that the appropriate name for this bill is the “American Health Cut Act.” Or maybe the “American Health Cut Ax,” a name that captures the less-than-surgical precision of this process.
