No new casino

Any new casino in Miami-Dade should be approved by county residents, not by state legislators, whose communities will not be affected by this decision. The addition of a casino will be of no benefit to our community.

We should attract companies that will create jobs that pay more than minimum wage. We should attract companies that hire our graduates and stop the “brain drain” from Miami. We should attract tourists that spend their money in hotels, restaurants, and stores, not on gambling to line the pockets of Genting and other casino operators. We should attract companies that invest in the future of our children, arts, community. Casinos do none of the above.

If you need a better picture, go to Atlantic City. Is that the future we want for Miami? No way!
