Mayoral battle
David Smiley’s March 15 article, Clash of power, is an accurate indicator of what’s to come when Miami-Dade Countians go to the polls to elect a county mayor in November 2016.
Sounding more like an episode of Family Feud than a real political battle about issues and county objectives, it is a safe bet that Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and his daughter, Raquel, a School Board member and radio host, will do all they can to double-team incumbent County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. They will stay away from critical voter issues and turn the political battle into more of a circus act filled with personal vendettas and attacks on credibility.
In that event, there shall be two losers — the low vote-getter and every Miami-Dade resident.
