Airport deputies

I respect the praises heaped on Broward Sheriff Scott Israel after the deaths, maiming and bloodletting at his county’s international airport; but where were his airport deputies as the shots pierced the noon day and souls dropped dead while waiting for their bags?

Would it have cost an unheard amount of dollars to have armed law-enforcement officers stationed near the luggage carousels as the flights arrived?
