AIDS epidemic

Unfortunately, Miami is known for having the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the United States.

This is not something to be proud of, and this goes to show that not enough is being done to prevent this chronic illness from becoming so common in just a single city. The Miami-Dade County Health Department needs to make more of an effort to lower the number and prevent people from contracting this disease.

Right now, the Florida Health website lists different organizations that encourage getting an education on HIV/AIDS and gives them information on how to get testing; however, they specifically say to get tested by a physician. But not everybody has insurance or other means to pay to see one.

If the government knows that Miami has the highest rate of this virus, then it is its responsibility to take care of the community and issue free testing for HIV/AIDS to prevent the number of people from contracting the disease.

It is obvious that the programs, right now, aren’t helping the situation.
