In light of the results of the presidential elections, there has been unleashed a spirit of overt racism and hate in our country.
As an immigrant, U.S. citizen and resident of Miami-Dade County, I ask that we all request the full force of Miami-Dade government be marshaled take a firm stand against the hateful spirit that seeks to overrun our country.
As a public and strong first step, Miami-Dade County declare that acts of racism and hate against immigrants and minorities will not be tolerated and such criminal acts will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; that Miami-Dade County be declared a “sanctuary city” for undocumented immigrants; and that the county organize assistance efforts for immigrants from war-torn countries.
These are dark times for our country and for the world. Let us come together to make Miami-Dade County part of the light.
