North Beach rescue

I’m excited about the new vision recently presented in the North Beach Master Plan in Miami Beach. Throughout the public input process for the drafting of the plan, there were resident concerns for driving economic value and reinvigorating the area.

Those concerns are reflected in the master plan, which includes activating the town center, making the neighborhood more pedestrian friendly and revamping zoning rules to allow for mixed-used development.

Although the plan is not yet final, its principles and the public input gathered already are having an impact. The Ocean Terrace project, for example, now has a revised redevelopment plan more in line with the master plan.

Much of what was presented is a step in the right direction for North Beach. I urge my fellow residents to continue to speak for North Beach at the Oct. 19 Miami Beach Commission meeting, where the plan will be reviewed.
