Religious privilege

Like so many Christian conservatives,”Kayla Marenco’s Oct. 6 letter, “Expressing freedom,” can’t, or won’t, grasp that using a taxpayer-funded event or government-paid employees to promote a religion is exactly what the Constitution protects us against.

I’m sure we would have heard no such defense of a banner quoting a verse from the Quran. I would bet that if it had been a Bible verse of my choosing on that banner, she would have ripped that down in a heartbeat.

No. Her complaint is not about freedom of speech; it’s about loss of undeserved privilege.
