On Feb. 14, 238 married couples from South Florida renewed their vows at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They were celebrating significant anniversaries — silver, golden and, for two couples, diamond. For months, the media have reported incessantly on same-sex marriages. Yet on Valentine’s Day, a marriage story about these men and women who have preserved their commitments of mutual love and respect, for better or worse, went unnoticed and warranted no attention by most of the media outlets.
Media should be wise and fair in their coverage, respecting all points of view. Our community depends on coverage that accurately reports on our daily lives.
