Forgotten values
I am a proud American. I served in the U.S. Navy, as did my father and as my daughter is doing now.
On all national holidays, I fly my American flag with great pride, the one that was given to me by the Veterans Administration when my father died many years ago.
I live in the Silver Palms Plantation in Miami Dade and was recently told by the former president of the home owners association to “Take down the flag,” as were other residents of this small 20-unit community.
There are no rules or restrictions pertaining to flags in the association bylaws.
Maybe one day in Miami, because this only pertains to Miami, we can get back to the time when it was okay to be a patriotic American and fly our flag in display of the greatest country of all, the U.S.A.
