Solar’s status
Amendment 1 is on the ballot, labeled as “Smart Solar.” But it isn’t “smart,” except to its proponents. It barely made it past the Florida Supreme Court on a 4-3 vote.
One of the three who dissented was Justice Barbara Pariente, quoted here from the record: “Masquerading as a pro-solar energy initiative, this proposed constitutional amendment, supported by some of Florida’s major investor-owned electric utility companies, actually seeks to constitutionalize the status quo.” Floridians should vote with Justice Pariente and vote No on Amendment 1.
