Explain both sides

A recent letter about the actions of several football players was concerned about children’s reactions to these events. The writer mentioned several times that the Constitution grants the right to freedom of expression, and that he no longer will attend Dolphin games in protest.

While many Americans think that disrespecting the flag in this manner is distasteful, our freedom to protest nonviolently is one of the hallmarks of the Constitution.

I hope the writer will explain to his children both sides of this debate. In addition, those who are well-known simply because they play a game should not be role models to children. Choose role models who contribute positively to society; perhaps a family member, a representative of their religion or a teacher.
