The tree house

I am furious at the city of Miami and its code enforcement department (“A purple haired grandma lives in a tree house: Now she’s told its coming down,” Sept. 3)

How dare they interfere with the life of Shawnee Chasser, who has lived in a type of “tree house” for years? The house even survived Hurricane Andrew.

Her property was even featured in a tiny houses travel blog. The home is less than a half acre of lawn, surrounded by a man-made pond and waterfall. It is hidden by a hedge and there is no sensible reason to make her move.

I live in Hollywood, but what I wouldn’t give to be above the ground, listening to rain and thunder yet feeling safe and part of nature. Wow.

The city of Miami needs to leave Ms. Chasser alone and go after crime in areas like Liberty City and Overtown.

N. B. Deyo,

Hollywood
