Miami, as lively a city as it is, can be a lonely place.

Even before the pandemic, many of us have struggled to make in-person connections, which are imperative for our sense of belonging — and even for our mental health. At all stages of life, there are times when we need to break out of our comfort zone and meet new people. Whether it’s starting over in a new job, getting over a break-up or losing a loved one, community is important — and in the age on social media, person-to-person connections can be difficult to navigate.

In honor of 10 Days of Connection — created in 2017 to help foster acts of kindness, empathy-building exercises and other community building events — the Miami Herald Editorial Board is creating a crowd-sourced resource guide to help residents make connections to one another in Miami. We’re calling on readers to share their best tips on how to meet new people. It’s a seemingly simple task, but many of us struggle to take the first step. The goal of the resource guide is to help us break out of our silos and meet others who aren’t like us.

Contributing is easy. Fill out the form below and be sure to give us a way to connect with you. We’ll publish some of our favorite tips in a resource guide which will be available on our website. Sign-up for other connection experiences using the 10 Days calendar here.
