The chances of Florida seeing some heavy rain in the coming days are rising, but the chances that either of the potential tropical systems on the map could strengthen is staying flat.

As of Thursday morning, the National Hurricane Center held its prediction for formation of a tropical depression or storm near north Florida flat at 20% over the next seven days.

Long-range weather models do suggest that whether or not a storm forms, the region could get doused. NOAA gives it at least a 5% chance that the west central part of the state could see excessive rainfall early next week.

The hurricane center is also tracking a tropical wave near Cape Verde. As of Thursday morning it still only had a 10% shot of strengthening in the next two or seven days, but forecasters said it’s window for development closes soon.

“By this weekend, the system is forecast to move into a less conducive environment, and development is not expected,” they wrote.
