Forecasters watching new tropical wave soon to enter the Atlantic
Hurricane forecasters are monitoring a tropical wave expected to emerge offshore of West Africa by Friday, still far from the United States or Florida.
“Environmental conditions could support some slow development of the system over the weekend into early next week,” the National Hurricane Center said in its Thursday 2 p.m. advisory.
The wave is moving west at about 10-15 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
Forecasters currently give it a 0% chance of development within the next 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next week.
