A tropical disturbance could form in the Caribbean Sea and slowly get stronger, the National Hurricane Center said Friday.

“A broad area of low pressure is forecast to form in the southwestern Caribbean Sea by the middle of next week,” the center’s 7 p.m. advisory said. “Thereafter, environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system while it meanders in the Caribbean Sea through the latter part of next week.”

The system has a low chance of forming into something stronger, such as a tropical depression or a tropical storm.

Formation chance through 48 hours: 0%

Formation chance through seven days: 30%, unchanged from the 1 p.m. advisory.

Will it impact Florida?

It’s too early to say whether the disturbance will impact the Sunshine State.
