Caribbean tropical system to bring heavy rains to Central America. Check the forecast

NHC

The chances of a disturbance in the Caribbean Sea strengthening have diminished, but heavy rains are expected over parts of Central America, the National Hurricane Center said Friday night.

An area of low pressure is causing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over portions of the western Caribbean, the hurricane center said in its 8 p.m. advisory.

On Wednesday night, it had a 30% chance of formation in the next seven days. That’s no longer the case.

“Further development of this system appears unlikely before it moves inland over Central America later tonight or on Saturday,” the hurricane center said. “Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring heavy rains over portions of Central America through the weekend.”

“This rainfall could produce flash flooding, along with mudslides in areas of higher terrain.”

Formation chance through 48 hours: 10%

Formation chance through seven days: 10%

Will Florida be impacted?

This system isn’t expected to impact the Sunshine State.
