The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low pressure that could develop into a subtropical depression or storm by the weekend while it meanders over the central Atlantic.

Here are the details:

Where is it?

Location: The area of showers and thunderstorms is more than 800 miles east of Bermuda.

Will it get stronger?

Development chances: Formation chance is 60% through 48 hours and 60% through seven days.

Forecast: The National Hurricane Center said in its 8 a.m. Thursday advisory that the area of low pressure continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms well to the east and southeast of its ill-defined center.

Where is it heading?

Direction: By the weekend, “the low should turn northward bringing the system over cooler waters, potentially limiting additional development,” the hurricane center said.
