Will Tropical Storm Nicole close Disney World? What about Universal and SeaWorld?

Tropical Storm Nicole is on its way to bringing heavy rain and wind to Central Florida. But will theme parks be closing their doors again?

It’s rare to see full park shutdowns, which are usually reserved for the harshest weather events — like Hurricane Ian shuttering Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld for days.

Nicole hasn’t warranted a response like that yet.

Although, getting to a theme park will be a problem. Orlando International Airport announced it will close its doors at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. It’s unclear when they will reopen.

As of Wednesday afternoon, only Disney World and Universal Orlando have announced putting some closures in place.

“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions,” Disney said on its website. “We are continuing to closely monitor Subtropical Storm Nicole and are making necessary operational adjustments to maintain the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.”

The core Disney parks will remain open — Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

Here’s what Mickey Mouse will be closing on Thursday:

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park (Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is already closed for the season.)

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

Fantasia Gardens

Fairways Miniature Golf

Over at Universal Orlando, the resort will close Volcano Bay water theme park on Wednesday. Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk, as well as hotels, will still run on normal hours.

No other major theme parks have announced closings.
