Going outside is going to feel like stepping into a blast furnace today.

Across South Florida, the National Weather Service is predicting that at the hottest time of the day, it will be 93 degrees in Miami, 95 degrees in Fort Lauderdale and 94 degrees in Palm Beach.

But thanks to the humidity in South Florida that clings to your skin like a wet blanket, it will feel much hotter. The heat index – which is a combination of air temperature and humidity – says it will feel like between 105 and 110 across the region.

Temperatures that hot can get dangerous fast. And while children, the elderly and those with certain sicknesses or medications are most susceptible to heat illness – these temperatures affect everyone.

The Weather Service suggests avoiding outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. wear lightweight and light colored clothing and stay in air conditioning and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Dr. Cheryl Holder, a primary care doctor, said to aim for eight glasses of water a day. When exerting yourself outside, you should be aiming for half a cup to a cup of water every 15 minutes.

This is the 12th heat advisory that the National Weather Service has issued this month.
