Wet mornings, sticky afternoons forecasted this week across Miami-Dade, Broward
South Floridians can expect to see showers and thunderstorms overnight and during the early mornings, followed by sticky afternoons this week through Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
The highest chances for rain — around 30% to 40% — will arrive from 5 a.m. to noon during the work week, according to NWS meteorologist Sammy Hadi. The pattern is fairly consistent across Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
It appears there will be roughly less than an inch of rainfall over the next seven days, but there may be a couple of pockets that pick up 2 to 3 inches, Hadi said. But the sun will come out in the afternoon, with high temperatures in the upper 80s.
Those who plan to enjoy the sun should be aware of a high risk of dangerous rip currents for all east coast beaches through Monday.
It’s getting more humid and hot outside, Hadi said. While the region won’t be seeing record-high temperatures during the next few days, there could be a moderate heat risk because of high humidity values. There will be a “great ocean breeze” by the coast, but the inland area may feel hot in the afternoon.
Make sure to take breaks from the sun in the shade or in air conditioning, Hadi said.
“If there is ample sunshine and you’re outdoors, make sure you're hydrated,” Hadi said. “Make sure you wear loose-fitting clothing.”
