Weather alert: Will it hit 90 in Miami? Get ready for increasing heat

Ready for the heat?

It’s not summer yet, but South Florida will feel summerlike temperatures during an increasingly hot week.

Temperatures will hit the mid-80s on Wednesday and nudge up each day through this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.

“Scorching temperatures” are coming to South Florida, with highs forecast to hit the upper-80s Wednesday, 90 on Thursday and Friday, and 91 on Saturday and Sunday, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami.

“The heat is on ... the first 90s of the season,” said CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez.

The good news?

Night and early morning lows will continue to dip to be in the low- to mid-70s. Kendall even started Wednesday at 65, according to Gonzalez.

And more good news? Rain isn’t expected until Sunday, which comes with a 30% chance during the day and a 70% chance at night, the weather service says. And that rain is expcted toe nudge down temperatures at the beginning of next week.
